My name is Hannah, and I practice yoga rooted in non-dual Śaiva Tantra.

My first experience of yoga was a blissful moment as a child, playing in a local class that my mum attended. Over time, with limited spiritual anchoring and the pressures of growing up, I began to forget the value of bliss and joy, preoccupied with fitting in and doing the right thing. In my late teens, while swinging between states of feeling inspired and lost, I felt a persistent discomfort that there must be “more to life”. Later, I would learn to recognise this feeling as the fire of seeking that's necessary to sustain spiritual inquiry and help us remember our essence nature.

It was a chance meeting with a yoga teacher at the uni gym that brought me back to the mat. In Becky, I recognised the spark of inspiration, and in her classes felt a loving presence that enabled me to connect with others in the roo.

Over time, the teachings of yoga have helped me understand that my young self was yearning for the connection, depth and belonging in community that are so often sacrificed in our exploitative social structures. The practice has ignited a fierce love in my heart for “re-membering” and nurturing our true selves as interdependent beings of this Earth. I love yoga for helping us walk each other home.

My teachers

Among my yoga teachers are Sam Burkey, Sarah Harlow, Christopher Gladwell, Christopher "Hareesh" Wallis, Prem Sadasivananda, Atiya Khan, Becky Szwandt and Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, as well as being guided by the teachings of the ancient sages such as Vasugupta and Abhinavagupta through the texts.

My teachers in voicework are Bryony Greenhill and Eliza Kenyon, and in dance Alex Mackay, Saar Harari, Natalia Iwaniec, Iwona Olszowska, Sándor Petrovics and Emma Roberts, among many more in Gaga, 5 Rhythms and Movement Medicine.

My training in Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is with James Winstanley, a direct student of Master Kusum Modak, via the Ayurvedic Yoga Massage Institute.

“Officially”, I have spent 600+ hours in facilitator training, mostly with Yogasara in Bristol.
